Iain Murray

Director of Public Financial Management - CIPFA

Iain is CIPFA’s Director of Public Financial Management and has over 20 years’ experience of working in public financial management. Having started his career in UK local public audit, Iain has worked with bodies across all aspects of local and national service delivery in both an audit and advisory capacity. He is well versed in public finance and public services. At CIPFA, Iain leads the teams in the key areas of policy, technical and standard setting – from their development through to publication and amplification in the public arena. This includes setting standards and providing guidance for government, and improving PFM globally by leading and contributing to research and discussion. In his role, Iain works closely with standard setters in both the UK and globally and is well versed in emerging issues for financial and non-financial reporting.
